How Launchtastic Works
Local Operation
- All data stays on your Mac: Launchtastic operates entirely on your local device. Your app organization, folders, and settings are stored only in your Mac's Application Support directory.
- No internet connection required: The app does not require or use internet connectivity for any of its core functions.
- No servers: We do not operate any servers that collect or store user data.
What Data is Stored Locally
The following data is stored only on your device:
- Application Layout: Your customized app arrangement and page organization
- Folder Structure: Folders you create and their contents
- App Preferences: Settings such as icon size, hotkey configuration, and display preferences
- Search Paths: Custom directories you add for app discovery
This local data is stored using Apple's standard frameworks (SwiftData) in your Mac's Application Support folder and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
Export/Import Feature
When you use the export/import feature:
- Data is exported as files to a location you choose on your device
- No data is sent to Taptastiq or any third party
- You have full control over where exported data is stored and who has access to it
Third-Party Services
Launchtastic does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.
macOS Permissions
Launchtastic may request the following macOS permissions to function properly:
- File System Access: To scan application directories and discover installed apps
- Accessibility (Optional): Only if you enable advanced features that require system-level access
- Login Items: Only if you enable "Launch at Login" in settings
These permissions are used solely for app functionality and do not enable any data collection.
Children's Privacy
Launchtastic does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since we collect no data at all, the app is safe for users of all ages.
Data Security
Since all data remains on your device:
- You are in control: Your data security depends on your Mac's security settings
- Local encryption: Data stored by Launchtastic uses macOS standard storage, which can be encrypted using FileVault
- No transmission risks: There is no risk of data interception since nothing is transmitted
